Course Levels and Curriculum

We offer a comprehensive French language learning programme, structured across multiple levels to ensure gradual and effective progress. Our courses cater to students with no prior knowledge of French, all the way up to advanced learners aiming for near-native proficiency. Below is a detailed overview of our levels:

Beginner Level: This level is perfect for students with no prior knowledge of French. In this term, students will be introduced to essential topics such as the French alphabet, numbers, verb conjugation, masculine and feminine forms, and contracted articles. The course is designed to lay a strong foundation in French grammar and vocabulary, enabling learners to start forming basic sentences and expressions. The textbook used for this level is Découverte, which provides engaging and practical lessons for beginners.

A1 Level (Tend 1 to Tend 5): For students advancing through the A1 level, we use the textbook Tendances A1. These terms focus on building the foundational skills acquired at the beginner level. Students will start forming simple conversations and enhance their listening and reading comprehension.

A2 Level (Tend 6 to Tend 10): The A2 level is a crucial stage in language learning, as students begin to understand French speakers and engage in basic conversations. The textbook Tendances A2 continues to be the core material. By the end of the A2 level, students will be more confident in their ability to engage in everyday situations and understand spoken French at a moderate pace.

B1 Level (Tend 11 to Tend 15): This level marks a significant advancement in your language journey. At this stage, students will be introduced to more complex grammatical structures and broader vocabulary, enabling them to express opinions on various topics and have a deeper understanding of the French language. The textbook Tendances B1 is used at this level to provide comprehensive language training. By the end of this level, students will have gained the ability to hold conversations on familiar topics and express ideas in both spoken and written French.

B2 Level (Tend 16 to Tend 20): Students further refine their skills with the textbook Tendances B2. This level prepares learners for more sophisticated conversations and enhances their understanding of more complex texts and dialogues. By completing the B2 level, students are eligible to take the TEF (Test d’Évaluation de Français), which is an internationally recognised exam for assessing French proficiency. Graduates from this level are also well-prepared to apply for prestigious universities. At the end of this course, Safir Language Academy will also provide students with a certificate of completion.

C1 Level (Tend 21 to Tend 25): The C1 level is where students approach a high degree of fluency. The textbook Tendances C1/C2 is used to challenge students with advanced language content. By this stage, learners can understand and produce complex texts, use the language effectively in both academic and professional contexts, and engage confidently in debates and discussions.

C2 Level (Tend 26 to Tend 30): Finally, the C2 level completes the journey to near-native fluency. Using Tendances C1/C2, students will reach a level where they can effortlessly communicate in French, both orally and in writing, with the same proficiency as a native speaker. By the end of this level, students will be able to analyse and comprehend highly specialised texts and participate in professional-level discussions.
